700-year-old rice terraces carved into steep mountain slopes
The Longji Rice Terraces (Dragon's Backbone) are a series of cascading rice paddies carved into steep mountain slopes by the Zhuang and Yao ethnic minorities over 700 years. The terraces rise from 300 to 1,100 meters above sea level. The most dramatic views are from the Ping'an Zhuang and Dazhai Yao villages, which require a 1-2 hour hike from the parking areas.
