Guilin's most iconic landmark — a limestone hill shaped like a drinking elephant
Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbi Shan) is Guilin's most recognizable landmark — a limestone hill at the confluence of the Li River and Peach Blossom River that looks exactly like an elephant drinking from the water. The pagoda on the elephant's back adds to the surreal effect. It has been a symbol of Guilin for over 1,300 years.
